Allahabad, India - February 15, 2001: The image of these man was taken during a Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred waters of the Ganges river during February, 2001, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh state in Northern India. It is estimated that about 60 million Hindu pilgrims took a bath in the river Ganges on the occasion, making it at the time the largest peaceful gathering anywhere in the world in recorded history. The event took place in between January 9, thought February 22nd.

The image was created using Kodak Ektachrome 100S (ISO100). This image was scanned high resolution in the Imacon Flextight 949. "Virtual Drum" scanning that has a dynamic range of 4.9 w. true 16-bit color. For ultimate quality, all my scanned images have been scan keeping the sharpening in the scanner off so that the film grain won’t turn into an issue. During postproduction, a non-invasive sharpening has been done selectively over the focus point. All images have been processed in 16 Bits and transfer down to 8 before uploading.

The image was done in slow shutter speed to to bring movement to the image and fill-flash to freeze it.
