"Johann Sebastian Bach Statue in front of St Thomas's Church, Leipzig (Germany). In front of the south portal of St. Thomas's Church in the City of Leipzig stands the 2.45m high statue of Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach was one of the most famous composer, organist, harpsichordist and violist in Germany. Bach lived from 21 March 1685 until 28 July 1750. In 1723, Bach was appointed Cantor of the Thomasschule at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, as well as Director of Music in the principal churches in the town. The artist of the sculpture was Carl Seffner (1861- 1932). He created this in 1908."
