Neues Lusthaus Stuttgart. Das 1584 bis 1593 von Hofbaumeister Georg Beer unter Herzog Ludwig an der Stelle des heutigen Kunstgebäudes erbaute Neue Lusthaus in Stuttgart war eines der berühmtesten Bauwerke der deutschen Renaissance und diente als Ort höfischer Spiele und Vergnügungen. Es war durch seinen Ballsaal berühmt, der von einem freitragenden bemalten Tonnengewölbe überspannt war und ca. 200 × 70 × 50 Fuß maß. Das Gebäude brannte 1902 ab.

This illustration comes from a beautiful book on the history of arts. It was published in 1879 in Leipzig, Germany for academic studies. The book is in an excellent condition, with superb woodcuts on fine paper. You will find many more pictures in my lightboxes.
