Almost a Christmas tree. During the autumn rut, red deer stags will swish their antlers through bracken when there is combat in the air. While the intention is probably to relieve frustration, the result is an antler decorated with dangling fern fronds.

This stag is chewing on a piece of sweet hay that he found on the ground. Stags that are really involved with the rut seldom pause to feed, and this individual is some way down the pecking order.
