Description
Antique hand coloured print from 1829, showing the Banqueting House, Whitehall in London. Designed by Inigo Jones for James I in a neo-classical style strongly influenced by Palladio. Built between 1619-1622, it is the only remaining part of the Whitehall Palace, which burnt down in 1698. In 1649, King Charles I was executed on a scaffold in front of this building.
