Description

The innovative Crystal Palace - the "People's Palace" - as it was when re-erected on Sydenham Hill. The original Crystal Palace, built in Hyde Park for the great Exhibition of 1851, did not have a curved centre section. Sadly, the Palace was destroyed by fire in 1936. Engraving from "Collins' Illustrated Guide to London and Neighbourhood", price one shilling; published by William Collins, Sons & Company, London, in 1871.
