This vintage lithograph print depicts the King of France, Francis I (1494 - 1547), kneeling in prayer together with his second wife, Eleanor of Austria. Floating above is a depiction of Christ on the Cross, his blood spilling in rays to a monk standing below. Note that the quality of the colors and texture is authentic to this antique method of printing. The lithograph, a reproduction of a medieval stained glass window, was made by Schmit & Company of Paris. Published in an 1873 history of the Middle Ages, it is now in the public domain. Digital restoration by Steven Wynn Photography.
