Description
A man fishing from the bridge at Ightham Mote, Kent. Ightham Mote is a medieval moated manor house near Sevenoaks which has over 70 rooms surrounding a courtyard. There is a legend that a woman’s skeleton was once found walled up in the house but it is likely to be a myth. Engraving from Harper’s Magazine, August 1878.
