circa 1790: Louis-Philippe-Joseph, duc d'Orleans (1747-1793). Known as Philippe Egalite from 1792, a cousin of Louis XVI, he aided French Revolutionists, 1789, as a member of the National Convention, 1792, he voted for the king's death. Accused of being an accomplice of Dumouriez, he was arrested and guillotined during the Reign of Terror. His son, Louis-Philippe became king, 1830-48.
