This vintage engraving depicts the only portrait of Daniel Boone (1734 - 1820) ever made from life, when he was age 82 in 1820. Boone was an American pioneer and folk hero, settling areas of Kentucky and the Midwest. Engraved by James Barton Longacre (1794 - 1869) after the painting by Chester Harding (1792 - 1866). Published in an 1865 collection of American portraits, it is now in the public domain. Digital restoration by Steven Wynn Photography.
