Description

A soldier, who is wearing a kilt and is presumably a soldier in a Scottish regiment, with his hand on a young ragged boy’s shoulder. The boy looks scared and the soldier rather severe - what has the boy done? From “Lob Lie-By-The-Fire, or The Luck of Lingborough” by Juliana Horatia Ewing (184101885). Illustrated by Randolph Caldecott and published in 1883.
