Description
Tintern Abbey, in Monmouthshire, Wales, was founded in 1131 beside the River Wye - the boundary between Wales and England. The present ruins are a mixture of buildings dating from between its foundation and the Dissolution of 1538. Illustration from "Picturesque Europe - The British Isles" published by Cassell Petter & Galpin in 1875 (price 2/6d).
