Description
Two Victorian girls standing on a path. One of them is crying bitterly while the other is attempting to console her. Schoolbooks and a slate are strewn on the ground - perhaps she hates school, can’t do her homework or has trouble with reading or bullying. Of course, it might be that she just hates that hat! Anyway, it’s not easy being a child. From “The Children’s Kettledrum” by M.A.C. (Mary Ann Cruse), published by Dean & Son c1883.
