Description
State-of-the-art washing facilities in the bows of a ship in the mid 1850s - it must have been luxury compared with what went before! From ‘The Boy’s Own Paper’ 1879-80, a British newspaper for boys which was at that time published by the Religious Tract Society and which featured stories, heroic deeds, facts, educational items and illustrations. The large object in front of the barber is the bowsprit.
