Description
A brave or foolhardy young man trying to stop a steam train at night by waving a flare in front of it. His hat has fallen on the railway line, almost certain to be crushed - and he is in imminent danger of joining it. From ‘The Boy’s Own Paper’ 1879-80, a British newspaper for boys which was at that time published by the Religious Tract Society and which featured stories, heroic deeds, facts, educational items and illustrations.
