6.7 - Digital Video Requirements: Filters / Correction

While it has been argued whether videographers should post-edit their clips or leave that to the editors, some clips can benefit from touch-ups to grab the viewer's attention, and expand the artist's ideas. Whether you are cross-processing colors or applying filters for desired effects, the end result should be a clip that can still be molded into a composition. There is no definitive point at which editing makes or breaks a great clip. Inspectors judge clips based on quality, composition, usability and creativity. Keep in mind that many members may want to use the clip in a professional production, and have editing equipment of their own. For these members, effects can be added easily by themselves. These members will be able to do their own editing to their own specifications. Pre-processed clips may be overlooked in favour of clean original footage.
