Photograph of a free range mille fleur d'Uccle rooster standing outside among the tall weeds and grass in the summer. This rooster has a unique look for two reasons, first - he's molting, secondly - he's a frizzle meaning that his feathers curl outward instead of lying flat.

This Southern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix) was found in a garden where it had recently shed its skin. You can see the snakes elliptical pupil, and its facial heat sensory pit. The pits give the snake the ability to sense heat. Essentially the pits allow the snake to see heat, which is a great aid in obtaining a prey animal. The characteristics of a Southern Copperhead that are obvious in this image are: coloration, elliptical pupil, heat sensory or facial pit, and hourglass markings. They are also known as: Copperhead, Highland Moccasin, Dumb Rattlesnake, Red Adder, Red Eye, Red Snake, White Oak Snake, Deaf Snake, Beech-leaf Snake, Chuck head, Chunkhead, Copper Adder, Copper-bell, Deaf Adder, Hazel Head, Popular Leaf Snake, Thunder Snake, or Harlequin Snake.

Photograph of a free range frizzle mille fleur d'Uccle hen standing tall and proud, her beak is open giving the impression that she is talking. Her neck is nearly bald of feathers as she is going through that awkward molting stage. Frizzle chicken's feathers curl outward instead of laying flat like a traditional bird's feathers giving frizzles a unique appearance.
