Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay - December 22, 2010: Typical Portuguese colonial stone house construction. Founded in 1680 by Portugal, the colony was later disputed by the Spanish who settled on the opposite bank of the river at Buenos Aires. It's a Southwestern city by Rio De La Plata river and is one of the oldest towns in Uruguay, capital of the Colonia Department and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nowadays produces textiles and has a free trade zone, in addition to a polytechnic centre and various government buildings.
