Description
This rare Critically Endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is about to eat a plastic garbage bag. Classified by the IUCN as facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild in the immediate future. The animal is about to ingest the material that would lead to its death. Ocean Pollution is said to be one of the largest environmental disasters of our time. Over 8 million tonnes is dumped in the Ocean every year. Discarded, abandoned or obsolete items which become dangerous garbage, is responsible for the deaths of huge amounts of Marine Life every year, through entanglement and consumption. The plastic was seen by the photographer and removed just in time. The location is Phi Phi islands in the Andaman Sea, Krabi, Thailand.
