This monument to the Pontic or Pontian (Greek) Genocide (1914-1922) entailed the extermination of the Christian Ottoman Greek people of Anatolia because of their religion and race. The perpetrator was the Ottoman Empire state headed by the Three Pashas and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The Greeks were killed in massacres and on death marches and subjected to deportations, rape, boycotts and expulsions. About 1-1.5 million Greek people died. In the background is people and a Coca-Cola logo.

The cathedral (right hand side of image), La Seu, was built between 1229 and 1601 on the site of a muslim mosque (which Juame I's military forces destroyed when they took control of the island from the Moors in 1229). The cathedral is Gothic in style. The royal palace (left-hand side of the cathedral) is the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. It was constructed before the cathedral by the Moors as a fort, and so retains elements of Islamic architecture, blended with the Gothic styling of later Christian additions.
