Native american buffalo hunters dressed as coyotes. Engraving by unknown artist from Ernst von Hesse-Wartegg's "Nord Amerika", swedish edition published in 1880.

A British Victorian illustration from "The Graphic" newspaper, 1881. It portrays the Marquis of Lorne at a buffalo hunt during his term as Governor-General of Canada. The Marquis (J. D. S. Campbell) visited the Canadian West in 1881, where he and his party visited towns throughout Manitoba and the North West Territories, travelling much of the way in wagons over rough, unsurveyed land in an eventful and perilous journey. On 5 September, a herd of buffalo was sighted and three of them were killed by some of the riders of the party. This was one of the last buffalo hunts of the plains.
