Description

Aerial view of a small village and agricultural land in Germany / Lower Saxony. Splietau is a district of the town of Dannenberg (Elbe) in the municipality of Elbtalaue in the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg in Lower Saxony. The village is near east of Dannenberg. It is located on the Lüchower Niederterrasse. In 2004 the village had 205 inhabitants. Before the settlement was nearly completely destroyed by a fire in the spring of 1870, Splietau was a closely cultivated village. In addition, the old oak trees are also a part of the town. South of the town is a dike, which had served as a backwater protection before the Jeetzelderderderung water and dichbaulich was redesigned in the middle of the 20th century. Thus, in 1888, a flood of lowland areas in Lüchow-Dannenberg and the entire village of Splietau had taken place.
