Description
Taxodium distichum is a huge tree typically reaching heights of over 100 feet and a trunk diameter of around 5 feet. The bark is brown with a reddish tint with a vertically interwoven pattern of narrow furrows. Unlike most other species in the family Cupressaceae, this tree loses its leaves in the winter months and that's how it gets it's name "Bald". This tree grows very slowly and lives a very long time.
