Bangladesh faces fury of flood stock photo

Bangladesh faces fury of flood A view of a flooded area at Lohajang in Munshiganj in Bangladesh, one of the South Asian countries badly affected by flooding in 2020.

--------------------
Tens of thousands of people across Bangladesh were either marooned or displaced after severe flooding, worst in two decades, engulfed over a third of the country until first week of August in 2020.
In central Bangladesh, all major rivers continued to flow over the danger-mark causing heavy floods that ravaged low-lying part of capital Dhaka, adjoining districts and northern parts of the country leaving people, already hit hard by coronavirus pandemic, in dire straits.
It was a double whammy for the people as floods was wreaking havoc at a time when pandemic brought all normal economic activities to a halt during last five months.
According to the National Disaster Response Coordination Centre in Bangladesh, some 5.5 million people or nearly a million of families were affected until August 4 while the Health Emergency Control Room recorded at least 145 deaths, mostly from drowning or snakebites, in 33 districts, out of 64, inundated so far.
