Description

An old British ‘Certificate of Age’ issued to prove that a child was old enough to start work, whether still attending school or not. It was necessary for the child to have attended school for a specified number of days, and to have reached a certain level of proficiency in reading, writing and arithmetic, if he/she was to be able to work.
