Description

'Miguel de Cervantes Monument in the Plaza de Espana, Madrid. The Cervantes monument is a towering stone obelisk topped with a giant statue of Cervantes peering down at bronze statues of his literary creations, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. The monument was designed by architects Rafael MartA-nez Zapatero and Pedro Muguruza. Sculptor, Lorenzo Coullaut Valera created the statues. Most of the monument was built between 1925 and 1930.'
