Description
Cayenne, French Guiana: Fort Cépérou (aka Fort Saint-Michel), named after Cépérou, am indigenous chief who ceded the land, built on a hill looking over the mouth of the Cayenne River. Colonial structure first erected in the 17th century and rebuilt several times, being occupied by Dutch, English and Portuguese. The tower on the right, called the 'pagoda' houses the city alarm bell.
