Description

'Fort Wadsworth is in New York, NY. It is situated under Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, on the Staten Island side. Fort Wadsworth is a former United States military installation, which is on the Narrows which divides New York Bay into Upper and Lower halves, a natural point for defense of the Upper Bay and Manhattan beyond. Prior to closing in 1994 it claimed to be the longest continually manned military installation in the United States. The photo was taken from the Shore promenade in Brooklyn.'
