The fountain was built in 1891 and was removed from its original location at the Schlossplatz to its present location between the St Mary's Church and the Rotes Rathaus. The Alexanderplatz is the most visted area by tourists in Berlin. Since the 60s it is a pedestrian district. It is located in the district of Berlin Mitte.
