Description
Ample rainfall in late August 2016 sent water rushing down the Rio Grande to the Percha Diversion Dam south of Truth or Consequences and north of Las Cruces in New Mexico. Due to torrential rainfall upstream, the Rio Grande at times reached flood stage. The dam, which is part of Percha Dam State Park, is on the National Register of HIstoric Places. Recreational actrivities here include fishing and bird watching. Local farmers also use water from the dam for growing crops.
