United States Geological Surveyors Aub Ward, left, and David Sadder, right, use an acoustic doppler current profiler on Monday, August 28th 2017 from the bridge at Highway 290 East and The Brazos River in Hempstead, TX. The ADCP measures how fast water is moving using sound waves. The USGS was unable to complete readings from multiple locations in the Houston area due to inaccessibility caused by Harvey flooding.
