The Brabo fountain with its statue was created in 1887 by the sculptor Jef Lambeaux. It represents the local legend of Brabo, a Roman soldier who killed and cut the hand of the giant Druoon Antigoon, guilty of terrorizing sailors on the river by cutting their hands if they did not pay toll. The fountain is located in the Grote Markt, the major square of Antwerp surrounded by remarkable buildings.
Mas Museum (Museum aan de Strom) and Marina, Hanzestedenplaats, 2000 Antwerpen, Flanders, Belgium. The MAS building is located in the old harbor of Antwerp, in the Eilandje district, a bustling part of the city. MAS has opened its doors on May 2011 and became a 60 m tall beacon in the city dedicated to the river and the port, focusing on diversity and reflecting on cultures past and present. The MAS is designed as a giant storehouse with stacked containers or 'boxes'. These museum boxes are stacked in such a way that they create a spiral tower. As you ascend, you get a constantly changing view of the city. A breathtaking 360° panorama awaits you on the roof.
