Max. length 30cm, common 22cm. Common Bluestripe Snapper Lutjanus kasmira occurs throughout most of the Indo-Pacific region in a depth range from 2-265m, common length 25cm, max. 40cm. In daytime, this species forms nearly stationary schools and feeds individually by night on crustaceans and fishes. Blue Corner, Palau 7°8'3.65 N 134°13'10.52 E at 17m depth.

During a drift dive on the Fakarava atoll, Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia, we swam by a large school of blotcheye soldierfish hiding in a small grotto in the reef

Blotcheye Soldierfish Myripristis berndti, Pinecone Soldierfish Myripristis murdjan and Silverspot Squirrelfish Sargocentron caudimaculatum have a similar habitat in the tropical Indo-Pacific, a juvenile Golden Damsel Amblyglyphidodon aureus on top. It's at the exit of a large cave, often strong current here, perfect environment for gorgonian corals, black corals, hydrozoans and Bryozoans, Triphyllozoon inornatum, the Lace Coral.
