The famous market in the centre of Norwich, with Norwich Castle behind. The stone keep was constructed by order of the King between 1100 and 1120 to replace a wooden structure which stood on the same mound dating back to the Norman conquest of 1066. The castle was used as a prison until 1887 and has been used as a museum since 1894. The market is the largest Monday-to-Saturday market in the country and was founded over a millennium ago.

Designed in 1765, this tower was completed in 1772 and is one of the finest triangular follies in the whole of the UK. It stands 160 feet high and has an observation deck on the top where visitors can enjoy the outstanding views (when the tower is open and for a fee!). The lighter coloured brickwork on the righthand turret marks where a plane flew into the tower in June 1944, killing all five American servicemen. "Situated near Frome in Somerset, Nunney Castle is a small, French style castle surrounded by a deep moat, built for Sir John Delamare in 1373. A veteran of the Hundred Years War, Sir John would later become Sheriff of Somerset. During the Civil Wars (1642-51) Cromwell's men used cannon to blast a great hole in the north wall of the castle, forcing the garrison to surrender.
