The Medici Fountain, built in 1630, is one of the most beautiful monumental fountains in all of Paris. It is located in the shade of trees and almost hidden on a side of the Luxembourg gardens. Restored in the 18th and 19th centuries, it was also moved stone by stone in 1860. A simple and romantic place around which it is pleasant to stroll, relax, read, or just dream. The central niche represents Acis and Galatea lying under a rock on top of which Polyphemus is preparing to launch a stone to kill the rival.

The Luxembourg Palace (French: Palais du Luxembourg) was originally built from 1615 to 1645 to the designs of the French architect Salomon de Brosse to be the royal residence of the regent Marie de' Medici, mother of Louis XIII of France. Since 1958 it has been the seat of the Senate of the Fifth Republic.
