The baby is wrapped in a plaid blanket and wears a pink bonnet. The background features large boulders and grass on the hillside. The Khasi are an indigenous or tribal people, the majority of whom live in the State of Meghalaya in northeast India, with small populations in neighbouring Assam, and in parts of Bangladesh. Their tribal name means "the seven huts" in the Khasi language.
