The astronomical clock in Strasbourg Cathedral in the city of Strasbourg in the Alsace region of France. The 18 meter astronomical clock is one of the largest in the world and contains probably the first perpetual mechanical Gregorian computus. The astronomical part is very accurate. It indicates leap years, equinoxes, and other astronomical data. This is the third astronomical clock on the site. The first clock dates from 1352, but it stopped working so a second was constructed in the 16th century. This was replaced by the current clock after being struck by lightning in 1838.

Notre-Dame de Reims (Our Lady of Reims) is the seat of the Archdiocese of Reims, where the kings of France were crowned. The cathedral replaced an older church, destroyed by fire in 1211, that was built on the site of the basilica where Clovis was baptized by Saint Remi, bishop of Reims, in AD 496. That original structure had itself been erected on the site of some Roman baths. A major tourism destination, the cathedral receives about one million visitors annually
