12th June 2019: Leaving Oban harbour on the northwest coast of Scotland. Looking down from the upper deck to the parking deck of the roll on roll off car & passenger ferry, where three crew workers in bright high visibility jackets & red hard hats are standing together, preparing to guide car drivers on board. One of the men is talking into a walk-talkie handheld radio.
Looking down the external deck steps, that connect lower and upper decks on a commercial ferry. Each step is painted bright yellow so are clear to see for passengers going up and down the stairway. The texture of the steps is rough, which gives better grip in all weather. Shadows from the sunny day are creating interesting patterns across the stairway. White painted railings run down each side, leading down to the green deck area.
