The Cape Lookout Lighthouse is a 163-foot high lighthouse located on the Southern Outer Banks of North Carolina. It flashes every 15 seconds and is visible at least 12 miles out to sea and up to 19 miles. The Cape Lookout Light is one of the very few lighthouses that operate during the day. It became fully automated in 1950.

The Ocracoke Lighthouse, built in 1823, stands on Ocracoke Island, N. Carolina & is about 75 feet tall with a diameter narrowing from 25 feet at the base to 12 feet at its peak. The walls are five feet of solid brick at the base and tapering to two feet at the top. An octagonal lantern crowns the tower and houses the light beacon of a Fresnel lens with its hand-cut prisms and magnifying glass.
