Orbicular Batfish Platax orbicularis occurs in the tropical Indopacific (there are records off the coast of Florida in the Western Central Atlantic) in a depth range from 5-30m, max. length 60cm. This is a juvenile specimen. A typical behaviour of the juveniles of this species is to lie on side or float on surface, mimicking dead leaves. Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia 1°29'7 " N 125°15'22" E at 6m depth.

Orbicular Batfish Platax orbicularis occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa and Persian Gulf to the Tuamoto Islands, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia in a depth range from 5-30m, max. length 60cm. Adults are found singly or in small groups and occasionally in large schools in some areas. There are records off the coast of Florida in the Western Central Atlantic. It's a bit tricky to photograph this fish with flash because it reflects the light perfectly unless the flash units are far off the optical axis. Palau 7°6'13.45 N 134°14'15.72 E at 10m depth
