Military paratrooper. This jumper configuration indicates a special operations mission, using the MC-5 Static Line/Free Fall Ram Air Parachute System (SL/FF RAPS). The system allows for a higher drop altitude, typically 12,500 feet, and a longer distance to the target, typically 2 miles or so. The parachute system also allows the jumper to carry up to 100 pounds of equipment. The jumper is holding the adjustable toggles that allow him to "steer" the direction of his fall. P 38 Lightning World War 2 Fighter plane. Over 10,000 were built during World War 2, and it the only fighter that was in continuous production throughout the war. It was flown by America's highest scoring ace, Richard Bong, who is credited with 40 kills. The P 38 was highly effective in a variety of combat roles, including dogfighting, ground attack, and bomber escort. The rocket is being towed up the shipping channel on the barge on which it landed on 12/13/2020 following a successful satellite launch.
