Swindon in Wiltshire, England, grew from a population of just over 2000 to become a centre for the Great Western Railway, under the auspices of famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The building of the new Swindon necessitated the founding of many brickworks, and most made use of local Kimmeridge Clay. Swindon became a redbrick town. Shown in this photo are the red bricks, formed into an arch, that support the railway bridge close to the new Outlet Village.
