Yaji Mountain is a holy land of Taoism in North China, named for its towering peaks like the hairs of ancient girls. According to legend, there were Taoist priests practicing in the mountains in the Tang Dynasty, and the Ming Dynasty gave a plaque "Huguo Tianxian Palace". The emperors such as Kangxi, Qianlong, and Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty also wrote poems here many times. More than a dozen temples, including Bixia Yuanjun Temple and Yuhuang Pavilion, form a majestic building complex and become the "Grand View of Jingdu". The original temple was destroyed on the eve of 1949, and local believers rebuilt the Yuanjun Palace and the gate on the top of the mountain and restored the Zixiao Palace under the mountain. The one-month temple fair held in April every year is still in the foreground, becoming an important Taoist venue in eastern Beijing.
