The Tiger’s nest is a prominent and difficult to access Himalayan Buddhist holy site first built in 1692 around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave where Guru Padmasambhava, who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan, meditated for three years. Paro (Dzongkha) is an ancient town in the homonymous valley, with many sacred sites, temples and historical buildings. Bhutan is famous for pioneering the concept of Gross National Happiness.
