Troubadour and minstrel Ulrich von Liechtenstein ( Codex Manesse in Heidelberg ) Zürich, ca. 1300 -1340 Ulrich von Liechtenstein ( ca. 1200 – 26 January 1275 ) was a German minnesinger and poet of the Middle Ages. He wrote poetry in Middle High German and was author of noted works about how knights and nobles may lead more virtuous lives. Ulrich was a member of a wealthy and influential ministerialis family from Liechtenstein in Styria. Theobald I (30 May 1201 – 8 July 1253), also called the Troubadour and the Posthumous, was Count of Champagne from birth and King of Navarre from 1234. He initiated the Barons' Crusade, was famous as a trouvere, and was the first Frenchman to rule Navarre.

Jewish singers and scholars at the moorish court of Cordoba (in modern Andalusia, Spain). Cordoba was in the 10th Century one of the largest cities in the known world.
