"Colorful hot air balloon rises into sunrise brilliance after a tentative lift-off. A sudden fluke wind gust dragged the balloon several feet while just partially inflated, scuffing the basket on its side and picking up debris from the ground on the bottom of the envelope. New York City, New York, USA - September 12, 2014: Bicycles are docked at a Citi Bike sharing system kiosk awaiting riders. The idea for the bike sharing project fomented in 2008 and became a reality in 2013. Its name is derived from Citigroup, the primary sponsor. The concept is to provide easy transportation that neither pollutes nor contributes to traffic congestion. To operate, a rider simply swipes his credit card into the kiosk keypad to buy a 24-hour or 7-day time period access pass. A $101 security deposit is recorded by the kiosk software. A bike is selected and undocked. The seat is adjusted, then the rider proceeds. Upon return, when the bike is re-docked, another swipe of the pass indicates if credit time is remaining or if additional payment is required. There are over 300 kiosk locations in the city, with thousands of bikes available.

"Beaded Shawnee Native American warrior clothing decoration dating to 1830s - typically part of a breastplate, headdress or headband. The original Shawnee homeland was Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. But the Shawnee were far-ranging people, with villages as far north as New York state and as far south as Georgia. Today most Shawnee live in Oklahoma, having been transferred there by the US government. Originally, beads were carved from natural materials like shells, coral, turquoise and other stones, copper and silver, wood, amber, ivory, and animal bones, horns, and teeth. Glass beads were not used until the colonists brought them from Europe 500 years ago, but like horses, they quickly became part of American Indian culture. Today glass beads, particularly fine seed beads, are the primary materials for traditional Shawnee beaders."

Pictograph rock art at the Palatki site in Loy Canyon, Arizona. Most of the artwork is attributed to the Sinagua, who inhabited the area between 650AD and 1200AD, but in some cases artwork from other time periods is interspersed and overlayed with the Sinaguan. More primitive etchings date as far back as 6000 years, while a few markings were made by ancestral Apache more recently (confirmed by tribal elders). Pictographs are painted images, whereas petroglyphs are etchings performed by abrading the rock with the edge of another. Pictographs at this site are typically in white, red and black, or kaolin, hematite and charcoal. Archeologists believe that much of the art at the Palatki site relates to the dreamstate imagery of ancient Shamans. This image reflects the typical flat, protected rock face alcove on which Sinaguan art can be found, with numerous depictions of animals and references to life's journey on the Earth.
