Frederick, MD, USA - June 7, 2014: People gather on the walkway at Frederick Maryland's Linear Creek to celebrate Frederick's annual Festival of the Arts. Artists from all over the country participate in this Festival to sell their wares such as pottery, jewelry, photography, woodwork and all kinds of things. Lots of people enjoy this beautiful cloud filled day at the Festival.
Cape May, New Jersey, USA - September 12, 2014: Birdwatchers and photographers view and photograph and extremely rare Whiskered Tern on the beach of Cape May New Jersey. The Whiskered Tern is normally found in Europe and Asia, but this one crossed the Atlantic Ocean to appear in the Cape May New Jersey area. This species of tern has only been verified three times in North America, and all three North American records are from Cape May, one in 1993, one in 1998 and and this one in September of 2014. Needless to say, this brought birders from far and wide to view and photograph this rare bird.

"Colorful autumn trees sit below this rocky outcropping in Cumberland Maryland, sometimes called Lover's Leap. This rock outcropping is on Wills Mountain on the northeast side of the Cumberland Narrows and is 1,652 feet above sea level. The Lovers Leap name comes from a Native American legend which tells of a jilted lover who met his end by jumping off this ledge."

Seneca, Maryland, USA -- April 18, 2011: In this photo, taken on the Potomac River in Seneca Maryland, three Montgomery County Maryland River Rescue team members are heading back to shore after rescuing a kayaker clinging to a tree in the middle of the muddy swollen river. The rescued kayaker is second from the right in the rescue boat. BACKGROUND: Heavy rains from a storm that swept across the United States, spawning over 240 tornados, hit Maryland with torrential downpours. A day later the Potomac River in Montgomery County was over its banks and running extremely fast. A kayaker put their kayak into the water above Seneca and began kayaking down the river. The kayak flooded and the kayaker was swept along downriver with the current until they found a tree to cling onto.

Baltimore, MD, USA - July 14, 2011: Elevated view of the multi-colored Howard Street Bridge in the Mount Vernon area of downtown Baltimore. This is a twin steel arch-style bridge that crosses over the Jones Falls Expressway, the CSX and Northern Central Railway, and Falls Road. The bridge was built in 1938 by the J. E. Greiner Company to replace an earlier 19th century iron arch bridge. The bridge is 979 feet long and has been painted in multiple colors.

Funkstown, Maryland, USA -- July 17, 2010: This World War I Doughboy Monument in Funkstown Maryland stands in a small landscaped park. The life-sized sheet copper sculpture faces south from atop a granite pedestal, its profile aligned with bronze plaques on the east and west sides of the pedestal. The Funkstown Doughboy Monument is significant for its commemoration of those who served and died in World War I. It is also a representative example of a stock Doughboy monument. The Funkstown monument was dedicated on 23 July 1921 and was produced by the Mullins Sheet Manufacturing Company.

Poolsville, Maryland, USA -- March 28, 2013: Members from various hunt clubs in the Poolsville-Potomac areas of Montgomery County Maryland gather for the start of a fox hunt. This hunt takes place in the McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area and specfically in the Hughes Hollow area. The Master of Foxhounds leads a group of people dressed in red or black jackets. The large pack of foxhouds stay in a pack right behind the Master.
