View of Craigellachie bridge from the southeast bank. The bridge is believed to be the oldest surviving cast iron arch bridge in Scotland. It spans 150 foot/46 metres across the River Spey in Morayshire, near Aberlour. It is a lozenge and lattice cast iron bridge designed by civil engineer Thomas Telford, built in 1812-14. On the far side coniferous and deciduous trees grow in the ground of the steep rocky gorge side. On the nearside - grass, wildflowers and small trees in blossom are growing. A grass path leads down to the rivers edge. Two of the solid, stone turrets on each corner of the bridge are in sight, standings majestically in bright evening sun.
