The Pink Mosque at Chania’s Venetian Harbour, officially known as the Küçük Hasan Pasha Mosque, is a striking Ottoman-era structure built in the 17th century after the Ottoman conquest of Crete. Named after the first Ottoman governor of Chania, the mosque features a large central dome flanked by smaller domes, with characteristic pink-hued plaster giving it its nickname. Once a place of worship for the city’s Muslim population, it ceased religious use in the early 20th century. Today, it serves as an exhibition space, blending Ottoman and Venetian influences and standing as a reminder of Chania’s multicultural past.
