This illustration that I created depicts a woman in a martial arts outfit with a black belt. She is in a high kick stance and has painted finger & toenails.

Karate was born in what is now Okinawa. Its prototype is a fusion of Okinawan kenpo and Chinese martial arts. Further influences from Japanese martial arts were added, and it is believed to have developed into the karate of today.

The colour of the belt, a sign of strength. In those days, belts were not washed, so the belts of judoists who had practised a lot became darker, and this darkening was considered a symbol of strength.

Judo techniques and practices are unique in that they are designed to move as many muscles as possible throughout the body, not just some of the muscles. Even a powerful throwing technique is not based on power alone.
